Abstract
Inthisstudytheeffectofhydroalcoholicextractofoliveleaf(Oleaeuropaea)onvisceralpainwasinvestigated. Forthispurpose,therehasbeenusedofmalemicewithweight(28±3g). Animalsweregroupedrandomlyintocontrol,positivecontrolandreceiversofoliveleafhydroalcoholicextract. Controlgroupandpositivecontrolgroupreceivednormalsaline0.9%andindomethacin(5mg/kg,i.p.),respectively. Treatmentsgroupswereinjectedwithdoses,(125mg/kg,i.p.),(250mg/kg,i.p.)and(500mg/kg,i.p.)ofhydroalcoholicextractofoliveleaf. Animalswereinjectedwithaceticacid0.6%(10ml/kg)foriducingofvisceralpain,30minutesafterofeachintraperitonealadministration. andAnalgesiceffectwasrecordedbycountingthenumberofwrithes(elongations)immediatelyafterinjectionofaceticacidduring30minutes. Theresultsofthisstudywasshowedthathydroalcoholicextractofoliveleafwithuseddoseswitedosedependentmannerandindomethacin(5mg/kg,i.p.)inducedsignificantreductioninpainresponsecomparedtothecontrolgroup. P
