Background: Obesity is often associated with micronutrient deficiency, the result of poor diet, lack of antioxidants and polyunsaturated fat on one side and saturated fats, on the other side. Oxidative stress has a role in the onset of chronic diseases associated with obesity.Plant-derived secondary metabolites such as phenolics and total flavonoids may have potential for free radical scavenging. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of natural compounds such as thymol, acarbose, thioflavin T and Chalcone on serum total antioxidant levels in mice obese. Methods: This study was performed in NMRI male mice. Animals were randomly divided into two groups: a control group (receiving standard rodent diet) and experimental group for 8 weeks (receiving high-calorie diet group). The obese animals into three groups: sham, obese and experimental groups. In the experimental group of mice with compounds thymol, acarbose, thioflavin T and Chalcone(12mg/kg/day) were gavage for 8 weeks. The end of treatment, blood samples, to investigate serum total antioxidant capacity (Total Antioxidant Capacity, TAC) was performed .Results: Antioxidant capacity decreased in the obese group, the sham TAC levels than obese and control increased. In all treatment groups, TAC levels increased, but this increase in the thioflavin and chalcone group compared with the other groups was not significant; but in acarbose group (P

Introduction & Objective: Zinc is an essential element for the immune system. This element has different effects on immune system activity. On the other hand different serum Zn levels also alter normal B-cell line and T-cell line functions. The present study was carried out to assess B cell line and T cell line tolerance to low concentration Zinc Chloride In vitro studyMaterials & Methods: This experimental study was conducted at the Payame Noor University of Tehran in 2010. The B- cell line and T-cell line were exposed to 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, 100,125, 150,175 and 200 µm (λ) of Zinc Chloride followed by incubation at 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 hrs. Viability of B- cell line (Raji) and T-cell line (molt-4) were evaluated with hemocytometer method and percentage of living cells have been considered as cellular tolerance index to cytotoxic effects of Zinc chloride. The results were analyzed by SPSS software, version 18 using T-test and Kruskal-Wallis testResults: In this study, the results showed Zinc chloride concentrations up to 40 µm (λ) at different incubation time points (12-72 hrs) had no effects on B cell line and T cell line viability( p> 0.05) With 50-200 µm (λ) concentrations, Zinc at different incubation time points(12-72 hrs)

Increasing the levels of blood lipids is the most common factors in diabetes that will exacerbate its complications. PJ (Pomegranate juice) is a nutrient with medical purposes. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of pomegranate juice on levels of triglycerides, cholesterol; LDL and HDL in healthy and diabetic adult male rats were done. In the study, 90 adult male rats weighing 220-200 g were divided into groups of control, diabetic and non-diabetic experimental groups. Each group includes 9 mice. Experimental groups received respectively 1, 2 and 4 ml of pomegranate juice per rat for 21 days. To create diabetes by Intra-peritoneal injection, streptozotocin 60mg/kg was used. At the end of experiment by the phlebotomizing the animal hearts, serum levels of triglycerides, cholesterol, LDL and HDL were measured. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and LSD tests. The results showed that pomegranate juice in doses of 2 and 4 ml caused a significant reduction in triglyceride levels, respectively, in the P

To identify the species of sea cucumbers belong to Holothuroidea in the intertidal zones of Chabahar Bay, field studies were conducted during one year from November 2008 to September 2009. The area of study was located at the farthest end of southeast of Iran in province of Sistan and Balouchestan between 25°16́́ 61̋ and 25°22́ 47 ̋ North, and between 60°39́ 90 ̋ and 60°24́ 38 ̋ East. 5 sampling stations along the shoreline zone was determined based on geomorphological characteristics, habitat and accessibility. Bimonthly Sampling was carried out in the selected stations in complete tide and all samples of each species were collected. Then samples were transferred to laboratory and identified based on extracted ossicles with valid identification keys .the four species of sea cucumbers were identified: Holothuria leucospilota, Holothuria arenicola, Holothuria insignis, Holothuria sp. Which bolnge to family of Holothuroidae and order of Elasipodida. The Maximum frequency of Holothuroidea Was measured in January (2009) in station 4.

Metformin is a biguanide drug that reduces blood glucose levels by reducing glucose production in the liver, reducing intestinal absorption and increasing insulin sensitivity. Metformin has been used to treat type 2 diabetes since the late 1950s and remains the first drug of choice for this disease. In recent years, it has been reported that metformin has favorable effects in other diseases as well. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to review the therapeutic effects of metformin in other diseases and types of cancer based on the latest research. The present review was collected using keywords from internal databases SID and Irandoc and external databases Web of Science, Scopus, Pubmed and Springer. A total of 100 researches between 2010 and 2024 were selected and reviewed with an emphasis on the latest sources. Metformin is considered as the first line of treatment in obese patients who do not have problems such as kidney or liver failure. It has also shown favorable effects on ovarian diseases (such as pycystic ovary syndrome and menstrual irregularity), cognitive, inflammatory, heart, kidney, liver and cancer diseases. Metformin prevents the progression of various diseases such as tumors, autoimmune and hormone-related diseases by regulating multiple signaling pathways such as JAK/STAT3 and mTOR/STAT3 centered on STAT3. Metformin has important neuroprotective effects such as preventing memory loss, stroke, anxiety, inflammation and seizures. It also has antioxidant effects and is useful in preventing aging. Due to the few side effects and of course more clinical research, metformin can probably be used in the prevention or treatment of some diseases in addition to diabetes.

Considering the problems of using medicinal plants in the treatment of diseases such as high volatility and non-targeted effects, and the role of nanotechnology in reducing these challenges, the present research was conducted with the aim of obtaining a nano formulation containing Clove essential oil for use in dental research. 4 liposomal formulations containing Clove essential oil were prepared using phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol by thin layer and heat methods separately. The encapsulation efficiency, size, polydispersity-index and zeta potential of nanoparticle (by zeta-sizer) were measured. In each of the manufacturing methods, a formulation that had suitable physicochemical parameters was selected in order to check the essential oil release pattern and the morphology of nanoparticles (by SEM). Also, the toxicity of nano-liposomes obtained from selected formulations was measured by MTT method on human fibroblast(HFF) cell line. The encapsulation efficiency, particle size and zeta potential for the selected formulation obtained from the thin layer method were 50.57%, 123.3nm and -18.6mV, respectively, and for the heat method, they were 55.43%, 121.4nm respectively and -19/2mV. The release of essential oil from the selected formulations was slow and continuous and dependent on pH. Nano-liposomes made by heat method caused less toxicity to HFF cell line compared to thin layer method. Considering the suitable physicochemical characteristics of nano-liposomes containing Clove essential oil and very low toxicity of nano-liposomes made by heat method for healthy HFF cells, these nano-liposomes can be suggested to further research in the field of oral and dental health.
