The plant's essential oils have attracted consumers' attention due to their naturalness and unique functional properties such as antioxidants and preservatives and in some disease treatments. Ferulago carduchorum is a native plant that grows in western Iran and was previously used as a natural preservative in delaying the destruction of meat and as an antiseptic plant. In this study, the essence of Ferulago carduchorum was examined. The composition of the essential oil, antioxidant properties, total phenolic content, DSC, and FTIR essential oil was investigated by Ferulago carduchorum. To extract the essential oil from the sample, the essential oil was distilled from distilled water in a Clevenger for 7 hours from the Ferulago carduchorum plant. Gas chromatography was used to identify the percentage of compounds in chamomile essential oil. The antioxidant activity of essential oils was determined using the ABTS free radical inhibition method. The folic acid reagent was also used to measure total phenol content. The highest composition of essential oils is α-Pinen, which is 30.18%. The results showed that essential oil with a concentration of 300 mg/ml (highest amount) had the highest antioxidant capacity and the highest percentage of free radical inhibition and essential oil with a concentration of 100 mg/ml (highest range) had the highest phenolic content. This plant can be introduced as a plant with antioxidant properties for the food industry and the treatment and prevention of diseases.

The application of herbal plants instead of synthetic drugs is increasing in recent years because of their lower side-effects and high varieties of efficient components. The aim of this study was to investigate the analgesic effect of Satureja bachtiarica Bunge essential oil by formalin test in mice model in this study, S. bachtiarica Bunge essential oil was prepared using clevenger apparatus by distilled water method. Mature male rats (25-35 gr) were selected. Acute and chronic pain induction was performed by injection of 20μl of 4% formalin solution to evaluate the analgesic effects of S. bachtiarica essential oil. The study groups consisted of the control group receiving normal saline, the groups receiving 25, 50 and 100 mg/ kg of S. bachtiarica essential oil, and the positive control group received morphine 10 mg/ kg. Single dose injections were performed 30 minutes before the start of the test. Acute pain (5 minutes after injection) and chronic pain (20 minutes after inoculation) were measured by stopwatch and the results were analyzed by SPSS16 software.S. bachtiarica Bunge essential oil at doses of 25, 50 and 100 mg/kg significantly moderated formalin-induced pain as it could reduce foot licking caused by formalin injection in both acute and chronic phases. The present data indicate that essential oil of S. bachtiarica Bunge has analgesic effect on mice, and this plant could be considered in future health care.

Abstract Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is main challenge in the treatment of infectious diseases. Thus, investigation for alternative drugs is an essential phenomenon. This study designed to aim to evaluate the antimicrobial property of essential oil of Boswellia carterii against bacterial and fungal causative agents of the mouth, gastrointestinal tract infections and antibiotic-resistant species. Essential oils were isolated through microdilution tube using Clevenger's method. The antimicrobial activities of the essential oils were individually evaluated against different microorganisms including pathogenic fungus (candida albican and three type of aspergillus), Gram-positive (Streptococcus salivarius, Streptococcus sanguis and Lactobacillus) and Gram-negative (Salmonella, Pseudomonas, Shigella and E.coli) bacteria strains. The essential oils have activity against all eleven microbes and the best activity determined against Streptococcus (5.3 μg/ml) were obtained. On the other hand, pseudomonas aeruginosa showed the most resistant among bacterial and fungal agent (85 μg/ml). Antimicrobial effects of B. carterii on resistance pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeroginosa and candida albicans revealed the necessity of performing expanded research about composition and property of this plant.
