Abstract Zoning and implementation of strict program for each zone must be done to procurement of management goals in protected areas. In order to evaluate of ecological potential of Kuh-e Gorm non- hunting area (83410 ha) in Fars province, possibility of change it to protected area and land management, zoning be performed using GIS software. Thus, to pursue the purposes, nocturnal and daily survey was done to identify vegetation communities and animal species. Ecological and socio-economic resources were initially surveyed and mapped (1:100.000). Overlaying of different maps creates final map of environmental units (with 625 environmental units). Table of environmental units was completed and positional data were analyzed, then area was zoned for above purposes. The result show that 7 zones are possible in the area;10.74% of the area is suitable for restricted nature reserve, 31.86% for protected area zone, 2.40% for restricted use zone, 46.88 for extensive use zone, 4.11 for rehabilitation zone, 0.61 for special use zone and 3.40 for buffer zone. In total 42% of allocated zones are suitable for conservational proposes. Some animal species such as Capra aegagrus, Lutra lutra, Dryomys nitedula, Aquila chrysaetos, Falco tinnunculus, varanus griseus and Testudo graeca are important in term of conservational value.

Abstract Intestinal parasitic infections are among the most important infectious diseases that are associated with individual and public hygiene. Every year millions of people are infected with some sort of intestinal parasites worldwide. In Iran there are different types of intestinal parasites that cause economic, social, and health losses. The aim of the cross-sectional study was to investigate the extent of intestinal parasites present in stool samples collected from health care centers in Gonbad e Kavous in summer 2013. A total of 2139 samples were examined using direct (normal saline or Lugol's solution) and formalin-ether methods. The results were analyzed using SPSS v.16 software. The results showed that out of 2139 individuals 31(1.45%) were infected with parasites namely; Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba coli , Entamoeba histolytica / Entamoeba dispar, Hymenolepis nana and Enterobious vermicolaris.The study also showed that intestinal parasite infection as a public health problem still exists among a large number of people in Gonbad e Kavous and a detailed and standard plan is needed to control and eradicate these agents in infected areas.

Abstract In this study, the effect of stocking density on some hematological (Red and white blood cells) and serum biochemical parameters (Glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, total protein, inorganic phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, enzymes alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase and cortisol) of Carassius auratus was investigated. Fish with average weight 200±18 g were stocked randomly into 6 tank with triplicate in two treatments for a 30-day period and were submitted to different stocking densities: low density (T1, 10 kg/m3) and high density (T2, 45 kg/m3). At the end of the trial, Fish from each group were selected and their blood was collected and the following parameters were analyzed. Fish held at high density showed significant higher levels of cortisol, glucose and alkaline phosphatase (23±0.4 ng/dl, 52±3.2 mg/dl and 93.2±8.1U/L, respectively) compared with those held at low density (36±0.9 ng/dl, 83±5.2 mg/dl and 61.2±6.3U/L, respectively), while the levels of triglycerides significantly decreased with increasing density (PP

The present work aims to determine fauna and abundance of hermit crabs in the southern Qeshm Island. For these aims, after preview of coastal zone, eight stations were selected in the intertidal zones of southern Qeshm Island. Sampling in these stations was conducted during the Dec. 2013. Totally, 605 specimens of hermit crabs were studied and calculated. For identification and accurate laboratory analysis, some of these specimens were fixed in 70% ethanol and transported to the laboratory. Base on valid identification keys, eight hermit crab species Clibanarius signatus, Clibanarius virescens, Diogenes avarus, Diogenes planimanus, Dardanus tinctor, Areopaguristes perspicax, Pagurus kulkarnii and Coenobita scaevola from six geneses and three families were identified in the intertidal zones of southern Qeshm Island. Also, Clibanarius virescens (Krauss, 1843), was reported in the Persian Gulf for the first time. All identified species were compared with the metatypical hermit crab samples in the Zoological Museum, University of Tehran and the species were verified. Compare the identified species in this study with the other studies showed that identified species in this study are so the same as the Oman Sea and north coast of Arabian Sea species. In addition, Station five (Mangrove Forest) had the highest rate of abundance of hermit crabs.

The present study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of two anesthetics, clove oil and ketamine, comparison of hematological parameters, and blood biochemical indices under optimum doses of the two anesthetics in juvenile Sterlet Acipenser ruthenus (n=276) with an average weight of 64.1 ± 3.4 g. Clove oil was used in concentrations of 14, 35, 56, 77, 98 and 119 mg/l, and those of 35, 37.5, 40, 42.5, 45 and 50 mg/l for ketamine in three replicates. Both losing time of equilibrium and induced time of anesthesia were reduced by increasing the concentrations of these two agents, whereas time of recovery increased. Optimum doses regarding the time of anesthesia and recovery were obtained as 56 mg/l and 45 mg/l for clove oil and ketamine, respectively. There were significant decreases in hematological parameters for all treatments compared to control group (P<0.05). No significant changes were observed in cortisol, glucose, and lactate concentrations for fish treated with clove oil (P>0.05), whereas, fish exposed to handling stress showed significant changes in all biochemical indices (P<0.05). On the other hand, glucose concentration did not change significantly in ketamine treatment (P>0.05), but cortisol and lactate changed significantly (P<0.05). Considering appropriate efficacy of clove oil in both induction and recovery times, and rendering no changes in biochemical indices, clove oil would be recommended as an alternative to ketamine for this species during aquaculture practices.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of Betaine in the diet on Growth performance, food efficiency and body composition of pikeperch (Sander lucioperca; Linnaeus, 1785) in Yosefpour's Fish farm (Siyahkal). 600 Pikeperch fingerlings were stocked in three groups of 200 in each tank and were fed with diets counting: commercial trout diet (Biomar) (Control), 1% Betaine added to biomar and 2% Betaine added to biomar, for 6 weeks and fed up to 7 meals per day. In this experiment, fifty male rats were gonadectomized at postnatal day 21-22 and at puberty were divided into Six groups, control, sham (saline), gonadectomized (saline) and the gonadectomized groups receiving Zinc chloride 5, 10 and 20 mg/kg. Abstract Because of many side effects of chemical drugs, herbal medicines have been considered for cancer treatment. Hulthemiapersica has five phenolic antioxidants.Therefore, in the present study, its anticancer activity in Helacells was studied in comparison with healthy Hek cells. After collecting the plant, its aerial parts were separated and extracted by percolation method. Hela and Hek cell lines were placed in plates of 96 houses with various concentrations of 8.7, 15.625, 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, 500, 1000µ g/ mlfor 24, 48 and 72 hours, and the percentage of cell viability Measured by MTT test. Plant extract has no inhibitory effect on Hek cells. However, Hulthemiapersica extract decreases viability rate of the Hela cells at doses of 125, 62.5, 31.25, 15.6, and 7.8 in 24 hours,at all doses in 48 hours and at doses of 1000, 500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25 in 72 hours compared to the control group (P<0.05).

Abstract Deprivation and re-feeding periods have a special relationship with possible mechanism of compensatory growth and reduce the cost of feeding fish. The present study investigated different parameters such as feed efficiency, growth and body composition changes in order to compensate for the possible mechanism of growth retardation in Pangasius sutchi fry (with an average weight of 1.27 g ± 0.24).The survey was conducted for 60 days in Ghom, Iran. In this experiment a control group (no period of food deprivation) and treatments with alternating cycles of one day of fasting and 4-day feeding (treatment 1), 3 days of starvation and 12-day feeding (treatment 2), 6 days of starvation and 24-day feeding (treatment 3). Abstract Head lice Pediculus humanus capitis De Geer belongs to heterometablian insects of Phthiraptera and is known as a very serious environmental health pest throughout the world that infests millions of people annually. This study was designed to investigate the morphometric characteristics of different populations of head lice in five countryside’s in south-east of Tehran province. Head lices were sampled from high school girls through autumn 2014 to spring 2015 and preserved in ethanol 70%. Fifteen characteristics were measured for males and females and data were analyzed by ANOVA under 99% confidence level. The means were compared by Duncan mean comparison tool. The results showed that there is high level of variations among the studied populations of head lice in the area and this variation would be due to the high level of genetic variations.

Alzheimer's disease is a common form of progressive dementia and usually occurs between the sixth and ninth decades of life, given that there is a direct relationship between steroid hormones and neurodegenerative diseases, so the present study was designed to explore effect of testosterone in memory impairment induced by intra-cerebroventricular (icv) injection of streptozptocin (STZ) as a model of sporadic Alzheimer disease (AD). Study was carried out on male Wistar rats. Adult male Wistar rats were intracerebroventricularly (icv) infused with STZ (3mg/kg/icv) on d 1 and d 3, and a passive avoidance task was assessed 2 weeks after the first injection of STZ. Castration surgery was performed in another group of rats, and the passive avoidance task was assessed 4 weeks after the operation. Testosterone (1 mg/kg.d, SC), the androgen receptor antagonist flutamide (10 mg/kg.d, ip), the estrogen receptor antagonist tamoxifen (1 mg/kg.d, ip) or the aromatase inhibitor letrozole (4 mg/kg.d, ip) were administered for 6 d after the first injection of STZ. STZ administration and castration markedly decreased both STL1 (the short memory) and STL2 (the long memory) in passive avoidance tests. Testosterone replacement almost restored the STL1 and STL2 in castrated rats, and significantly prolonged the STL1 and STL2 in STZ-treated rats. Administration of flutamide, letrozole or tamoxifen significantly impaired the memory in intact rats, and significantly attenuated the testosterone replacement in improving STZ- and castration-induced memory impairment. Testosterone administration ameliorates STZ- and castration-induced memory impairment in male Wistar rats.

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate catch composition and catch per unit effort of invertebrates in shrimp trawl in different areas and depths. This research was carried out in Hormozgan coastal waters (Bandar Abbas and Hormuz Island) at depths of less than 10 meters, 10-20 meters and over 20 meters in shrimp fishing season in 2015. 40 hauls that duration of each one was approximately 2 to 2.5 hours with a total catch of 7623 kg were done. The catch composition included 1068 kg of commercial shrimp and 6555 kg of by-catch that included invertebrates and fish which were 2386.8 and 4168.2 kg, respectively. The results showed that the catch composition consisted of 14% shrimp (1068 kg), 31% by-catch invertebrates (6555 kg) and 55% by-catch fish (4168.2 kg). There were significant differences among the CPUE in the different areas and depths as well as the interaction of area and depth on CPUE of the total catch, target species (Shrimp), Oratosquilla oratoria, Portunus pelagicus, Crustacea (Small crab), Sepia pharaonis, Anthozoa, Demospongiae, Rhizostomatidae (Jelly fish), Asteroidea and Octopoda (POratosquilla oratoria, Rhizostomatidae and Sepia pharaonis and the Demospongiae was at the least.

Any change in hematological and biochemical parameters of plasma could be a predictor of unfavorable environment or effect of different stress factors in fish. The present study was designed to assess different salinity concentration induced changes hematological parameters and immunity indices in rainbow trout fishes reared in fresh (0.5ppt), brackish (3.02ppt) and salt water (18.20ppt) at three different station in Golestan Province. The experiment was beginning with the rainbow trout juvenile with initial average 50g then run for 5 months using the commercial trout feed. At the end of rearing periods, blood samples were taken from 20 individuals was apparentlyhealthy with the mean weight of 250g from each station and serum was separated. Serum was separated with centrifuge machine and blood parameters were analyzed by the routine method used in fish hematology. The results showed a significant difference between WBC and IgM value in tree experimental group (p<0.05). The highest WBC (14300±310 103/mm) was found in the blood of fish fry reared in brackish water and the highest IgM value (0.428±0.007 g/l) was recorded in fish fry reared in saline water (p<0.05). RBC, Hb, Ht, MCV, MCH, C3 and C4 significantly decreased in the blood of fish reared in brackish water (p<0.05). But, these indices not showed any significant difference among the fish reared in the fresh and saline water (p>0.05). But there was no significant difference in the level of these indices between cultivated fish fry with fresh and brackish waters (p> 0.05). Also, was observed no significant differences among the MCHC value in experimental group (p>0.05). In conclusion, the results of this study indicated that rearing of O. mykiss as a euryhaline species in saline water of ~18 ppt is more desirable due to the tendency to return these indices to measured level in fresh water and are less affected by stress.

The present study was performed to investigate the effects of various levels of dietary lactobacillus acidophilus as feed supplement on the growth performance, survival rate, hematological parameters and intestinal microbiota of guppy (Poecilia reticulata). For this purpose one-thousand and eight hundred guppy larvae with 7 mg mean weight in a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replicates of L. acidophilus in the diet, including no bacteria (control), 1.5×107, 3×107, 6×107 CFU g-1(T2,T3,T4 respectively) were considered and fed for 16 weeks. The results showed that significant differences (P4 and control group. The highest amount of white blood cell count (9.70±0.1) was observed in 4 group and had significant different (P>0.05) with control (5.96±0.2). The highest amount of intestinal of Lactobacillus was observed in 4 group compared to other groups and control (PL. acidophilus (6×107 CFU g-1) have significant effect on growth and white blood cell count of guppy.

Skeletocronology is a reliable method for estimating the age but in amphibians little researches have been done in this field. In the present study, for the first time in the country of Iran, the age structure of the population, growth pattern and reproductive primary age were studied in the populations of marsh frog in the northern and southern regions of Khuzestan province. For this purpose, 20 female and male marsh frog samples were fished alive in the Khuzestan province and transferred to the laboratory. After biometric studies, the specimens were prepared and after the removal of the bones of the limbs, bone samples were passaged as routine histotechnique. The number of growth stop lines and samples age were determined. In order to determine the relationship between age and body weight, body length and age with eye lens weight, the data was analyzed statistically. the maximum number of loops counted in this population is . The adult age of males of northern and southern, males of the northern and males of the southern regions was determined 2,2 and 3 years respectively. with increasing age of females, the co-integration rate of females was reduced which is explainable by the reduction in bioavailability due to the increase in biological age. According to the results, there was a significant correlation between age of animals with body and eye lens weight, but there was no significant correlation between age of animals with body length, except a limited number of males in northern regions (P<0.05) There was.

However the role of remnant Hyrcanian forests as a refugium has been confirmed by some investigations but longterm survival and isolation of some species in this refugium from eastern and northern parts of Palearctic region trigged inter population’s evolutionary divergence. By investigation about these evolutionary diverged traits, some micro refugiums can be defined along the Hyrcanian refugia. In this study, we found some preliminary documents about the presence of eastern micro refugia based on morphological divergence of Glis glis as a model species.

Overexpression and malfunction of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFRs) is associated with occurrence of malignancy in various tissues. Among all members of EGFRs, HER2 as an orphan receptor dimerized and activated without presence of any kind of ligands has significant role in incidence of breast cancer. Herceptin as approved therapeutic monoclonal antibody targets extracellular domain of HER2 and inhibits its dimerization and prevents induction of intracellular signaling cascades. Efficiency of point mutation which offered based on rational design approach for affinity maturation of Herceptin was investigated by 10 ns of molecular dynamic simulation. According to our results, Herceptin with mutated light chain make a more stable complex with HER2 compared to its native type. Asp92 in mutated VL of Herceptin constructs a stable salt bridge with Lys569 on HER2, which decreases the electrostatic energy between VL of Herceptin and HER2, thereby affecting RMSD values of IV-HER2 during 10 ns of MD simulation. Herceptin (VL; Tyr92Asp)-HER2 complex has lower level of total energy during allover of MD simulation compared to Herceptin-HER2 complex. Although Herceptin has high Kd of 5 nM, it has great potential to be enhanced. Our molecular modeling investigation demonstrated that affinity maturation of Herceptin through rational design could be performed via mutation of Tyr92 to Asp in VL chain of antibody. Improvement of Herceptin affinity for HER2 could increase its efficiency and result to reduction of its dose or frequency of administrations.

Abstract Present work investigates the effects of nanosilver administration on histology of gill by direct and indirect methods in rainbow trout larva. In the direct mode, 300 larvae were divided to 6 equal groups randomly and exposed to 0.015, 0.031, 0.062, 0.125, 0.25 and 0.5 ppm over 25 days. In the indirect mode, 50 larvae were exposed to zeolite covered by silver nanoparticles. In addition, 50 larvae were kept in the incubators which free of any additive nanomaterials as control. In all of the experimental groups, on the days 4, 8, 12 and 25 after treating tissue samples were taken and histological alterations of the gill were examined. In the gill tissues of the direct exposed to nanosilver as 0.062 and greater concentrations; severe histoloogical and histometrical alterations include aneurism in the secondary lamellae of gills, hyperplasia of epithelium of gills as well as the adhesion of the gill lamellae were seen, as compared with control animals. In addition, in the direct exposing method; any increasing in the silver nanoparticles concentrations could lead to significant elevation in the gill lamellar as well as filament diameters (p≤0.05). Furthermore, indirect exposure to silver nanoparticles could not affect the gill integrity. It is concluded that nanosilver administration in the larval stage of the trout must be taken by zeolite covered by silver nanoparticles.

Abstract In this survey anatomical and histological aspects of testes and seminiferous tubules during post-hibernation period in Laudakia nupta inhabiting the north of Lorestan province in Zagros Mountains were investigated. To execute this task male lizard’s samples were collected from the study area during April to September for two consecutive years. In the laboratory gonads were removed and passed through fixation, dehydration, clearing, infiltration and embedding stages. By means of a rotary microtome serial sections were cut and stained by Haematoxylin-Eosin. Using light microscopy, quantitative and qualitative examinations were then performed on the sections. The results revealed that during April to September the diameter of seminiferous tubules and the thickness of germinal epithelium constantly decrease. In addition, during the April and May the germinal cells are undergoing the meiosis or maturing process but no spermatozoid is found in the tubules yet. During June and July, the spermatogenesis process reaches to its maximum peak and mature spermatozoa are constantly released into the tubules lumen. During August to September, the production of sperm ceases and the tubules begin a reduction process. In general, the results displayed that the type of spermatogenesis in this taxon is classified as associated and spermatogenic activity peaks when there are high temperatures and long photoperiod which coincides with June and July.

Bavanat County, with an area of 4992 km², is located in north east of Fars province. During a long-term avifauna survey in the area which lasted 8 years (2007-2014), 85 bird species belonging to 12 orders and 32 families, identified and reported. The order Passeriformes with 61 species was the most diverse order in the study area. The most diverse families were Turdidae, Fringillidae and Corvidae with 18, 6 and 6 species respectively. Due to lack of natural and human made waterbodies in the study area, only one water bird species was recorded in Bavanat County. The County has a suitable habitats for the presence of terrestrial birds, especially in the spring and summer seasons.

Silver nanoparticles have numerous applications in food technology and medical industry. These applications are mediated via their mitotic, oxidative and apoptotic effects. In this study, the apoptotic effects of short and long term administrations of nanosilver on rat hippocampus, which is involved in memory and learning, was investigated. 56 male Wistar rats were divided into two groups of short term and long term injections which were treated for 5 and 10 consecutive days, respectively. Each group was divided into four subgroups of control, 100, 200 and 400 ppm nanosilver administration. The control subgroup received saline and the treatment subgroups received intraperitoneal injections of silver nanoparticles at doses of 100, 200 and 400ppm. Balantidium coli is a ciliate intestinal protozoan with a wide host range in vertebrates, e.g. pigs, cattle, chimpanzees, and more rarely, dogs, cats, sheep, horses, and camels. This parasite causes clinical manifestation from asymptomatic to serious dysenteric forms. A total of 200 cattle were randomly selected from traditional farms of Darab city for a period of six month from January 2012 to July 2013. Feacal samples were prepared directly from rectum of these cattle. These samples were transferred to laboratory and were examined for the detection of Balantidium coli after concentration with formal-ether method and trichorme staining. The prevalence of Balantidium coli in the studied samples was 41.5%. The infection rate of Balantidim coli among female and male cattle was 57 (43.2%) and 26 (38.2%) respectively. The highest and lowest prevalence of Balantidium coli was in more than 3 years old cattle (47.6%) and 1 to 3 years old cattle (25.6%) respectively. There was and statistical significant difference between prevalence and age groups (P<0.05). Out of examined samples 12 (6%) were positive for trophozoite, 48 (24%) for cyst and 23 (11.5%) for (cyst & trophozoite). Finally present study revealed that the cattle of Darab city were infected by Balantidium coli. Because of zoonotic important of this protozoan parasite, the measures should be taken to control and prevent this parasite.
